MyKinoList predicts how much you will like a film. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We collect as little as we can to make the recommendations work.
1. Using the site without an account
You can browse and rate films without signing in. When you first act, we create an anonymous session tied to a random id stored in your browser, so your ratings persist on this device. It holds no personal details about you.
2. Signing in with Google
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, name, and profile picture with us. We use them only to create and secure your account and to attach your ratings and lists to you across devices.
We never receive your Google password, and we do not read your Gmail, contacts, or any other Google data beyond the basic profile above.
3. What you create on the site
To power your recommendations we store the actions you take:
- ratings and âwatchedâ marks;
- âwant to watchâ / watchlist saves;
- ânot for meâ and ânot seenâ signals used to tune the deck;
- duel (tournament) results and saved collections.
4. Product analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used and where it can be better â page views and a few named events such as viewing an article, clicking a film, saving a title, or signing in. This data is processed on PostHogâs United States infrastructure.
Analytics events are anonymous until you sign in; after sign-in they are linked to your account id so we can measure whether the product works end to end. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
5. Cookies and local storage
- Essential: your session / login and the anonymous id â the site cannot work without these.
- Preference: your chosen language and interface state.
- Analytics: PostHog stores a device id to count visits and events.
6. Film data (TMDB)
Film information, posters, and backdrops come from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Viewing a film page does not send your identity to TMDB.
7. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers that run the service on our behalf: Google (sign-in), PostHog (analytics), and our hosting provider (databases and servers).
8. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it at any time â email us and we will remove it.
9. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Reach us at [email protected].
10. Children
MyKinoList is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
